Animal Table

Furniture Set

2025

The Animal Table Set was a collaboration with artists E. Lamb Studio and Diane Yu, translating animal motifs into functional furniture. The goal was to create pieces that could live as both sculpture and usable surfaces—objects that bring playful energy into an interior while maintaining a refined presence. The collaboration invited each of us to explore new territory within our mediums.

Design unfolded as a balance between form and function. Abstracted animal silhouettes were tested at varying scales, with materials chosen to highlight structural integrity and tactile quality. The process was iterative, moving between sketches, digital models, and physical studies to find the moment when the tables felt both animated and usable.

Finishes paired natural wood grain with indigo dye, giving each piece a distinct character while unifying the collection. Prototyping and refinement deepened the identity of the tables as both furniture and art objects, aligning artistic intent with interior usability.

The completed set reads as a small family of objects—distinct yet unified. In an interior, they function as surfaces while serving as playful interventions that animate the space. The project underscored the value of collaboration in expanding design language, showing how furniture can enrich spatial experience as much as it serves utility.
